Figures count premises on the Food Standards Agency Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) public register whose FSA business type is Takeaway/sandwich shop and whose localAuthority is Wigan, restricted to those carrying a published 0-5 rating: 348 rated premises, as of 2026-06-16. Percentages are over rated takeaways only (premises awaiting inspection or exempt are excluded). The UK average and rankings are computed across the same register (1,410 of 52,213 rated takeaways at 0 or 1 star nationally). Scotland uses a separate pass/fail scheme and is not included. No figures are estimated or modelled. A 0 or 1-star rating reflects the last inspection and does not by itself mean a premises is currently unsafe.
