GeraEats in India 2026 — Fair-Commission Food Delivery

Published 21 April 2026 · 8 min read · en-IN

GeraEats is a food-delivery marketplace for Indian cities where restaurants are crushed by 25–35% commissions plus aggregator ad auctions. Our flat 12% commission leaves restaurants with more margin, lets us pass a lower all-in price to diners, and pays riders a per-order rate that reflects Indian urban-delivery reality.

GeraEats and the Indian regulatory picture

Food service in India is regulated by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006; every restaurant on GeraEats carries an FSSAI licence number that is displayed on the listing. GST Council rules (section 9(5)) require the marketplace to collect GST at the restaurant's applicable rate (5% without ITC or 18% where applicable) and remit it. Rider safety and consumer disputes fall under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and the Consumer Protection Act 2019 respectively. Data handling follows MeitY's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023.
