Quick answer

GeraEats delivers from FDA-licensed restaurants and home kitchens across Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale, and Cape Coast. Order in ₵ and pay by MTN Mobile Money, Vodafone Cash, AirtelTigo Money, GhQR, or card. Most Accra and Kumasi deliveries arrive in 30–45 minutes.

Regulation: FDA, Metropolitan Assemblies, DPC

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) of Ghana licenses food premises under the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851). Kitchens must pass FDA inspection and carry a current licence — GeraEats verifies this at onboarding. Local Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (AMA, KMA, STMA, TaMA, CCMA) add by-law permits for food-vending. Riders fall under DVLA rules; rider and customer data is handled under the Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 843) supervised by the DPC.

Mobile-money checkout

The majority of GeraEats orders in Ghana are paid via MTN MoMo. At checkout, pick your provider (MTN, Vodafone, AirtelTigo), enter the number, approve the prompt. Cash-on-delivery is still available for customers who prefer it. Restaurants receive payout the next business day via GhIPSS Instant Pay or MoMo, net of platform fee (typically 15% vs 25–30% on competitors).

Cities and coverage

Accra: East Legon, Osu, Cantonments, Airport Residential, Labone, Dzorwulu, Spintex, Tema, Adenta, Madina, Achimota, Dansoman, Kasoa. Kumasi: Ahodwo, KNUST, Asokwa, Bantama. Takoradi, Tamale, Cape Coast, Sunyani, Koforidua, Ho. Kotoka International Airport T3 delivery is supported for arriving passengers within a ₵60 fixed fee.

Home-kitchen onboarding

GeraEats' home-kitchen track lets a licensed chef operate from home with an FDA chop-bar permit and AMA by-law clearance. Onboarding takes roughly two weeks and we help with the FDA application. Many of Accra's best jollof cooks are home kitchens — we give them the same reach a sit-down restaurant enjoys.

How GeraEats compares in Ghana

Jumia Food, Bolt Food, and Yango Deli are the main competitors. Jumia Food has the widest catalogue in Accra but has been reducing geographical coverage; Bolt Food has fast delivery thanks to rider density; Yango Deli pushes aggressive promo codes. GeraEats differentiators: lower restaurant fee (15%), FDA-verified kitchens including licensed home-kitchen options, MoMo-native checkout, and GeraCoins rewards across the ecosystem.

West Africa and ECOWAS angle

Travellers on the Lagos–Accra–Abidjan corridor find their GeraEats account works everywhere. One login, one wallet, one rating history across the region. When our operations expand into Lomé and Dakar we carry the same MoMo/card rails over.
