How the ordering process works
On a typical delivery platform, you enter your delivery address, browse restaurants available in your area, choose your items, and check out with your preferred payment method. The platform confirms your order to the restaurant, a delivery rider is assigned, and you can track your order in real time. Average delivery time in major African cities is 25-45 minutes depending on distance and restaurant preparation time. GeraEats is not a live platform in Africa: it is in pre-launch in the United Kingdom only and takes no orders today.
Payment methods available
Across African markets, local delivery services typically support mobile money (M-Pesa in Kenya, MTN MoMo in Ghana and Nigeria, Airtel Money in Uganda), debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard), and cash on delivery in some markets. Mobile money is the dominant payment method in most African markets and typically the fastest checkout option. GeraEats itself is in pre-launch in the United Kingdom only, operates in no African market, and takes no payments today; GeraCash is still in pre-launch and is not a live payment method.
How restaurants join GeraEats
On established delivery platforms, restaurant owners typically apply through the platform partner portal or partner app. Onboarding usually includes identity verification, a food safety certification check (where required by local regulation), menu setup and photography, and payment setup, and platforms typically charge commission on completed orders rather than upfront fees. GeraEats has no live partner onboarding, dashboard or commission today: it is in pre-launch in the United Kingdom only, and restaurants there can register interest for launch.
